If anyone knows how to throw on a motorcycle event, it’s the Bike Shed, after all, they already leave the motorcycle world in awe once a year with their custom bike show at the Tobacco Docks. This event always features some of the coolest custom bikes on planet earth so when they announced that they’ve added the new Café Racer Cup show to their event calendar, we couldn’t have been more excited to get involved and head along.
The Café Racer Cup is the perfect track day oddity as it calls all Café Racers to Lydden Hill so that they can race their custom or completely standard bikes on track! For some, Café Racers are just not made like they used to be made so this event allowed a mix of old and new models (and generations) to gather together so they could just go out and race around the track.
It was an epic day at the races for riders and spectators as it made for a fun watch and by the smile on the riders face, one hell of a day racing too! As fun as it was to watch, we just couldn’t sit aside and spectate so we drafted in Grant Martin to race around on one of our standard Triumph Thruxton models. Although a flat tyre stopped play, the photographs clearly displays the ability that this Triumph has, both on track and off.
A huge thanks to the Bike Shed team for not only putting on a mega awesome day at Lydden Hill but for inviting us along. Roll on the Café Racer Cup 2019.
